Adam Castelli: The Exit Interview

I suppose the one consolation Adam can walk away with is that his performance was not horrible. He doesn't have to replay the agony of a wretched performance over and over in his head. It was our fault, not his, that he went home. And so goes the fickle industry.

Here's what he had to say about leaving:

"The fans and the e-mails I did get from the show were always saying, 'Oh you're something new for the show, you're something we've never seen' so I knew that I was a little outside the box for the show and to make it that far doing that is pretty damn cool," said Adam.

"I tried some different things, did some hip hop, Wyclef, rode a motorcycle on stage, so needless to say, I didn't hold it in, which was good and maybe that edge is just a little too sharp for this demographic. But I'm totally ok with that because I didn't water myself down."

Adam plans to take some time to decompress after Idol and then get back to working on songs.

"It's been a great ride, the lessons I've learned have been so valuable and the list goes on from how to be a professional (to) being on live television ... the lessons that I've learned now are going to be the tools for me to continue on with my career. So it's exciting in a way. Now I kind of feel liberated to really go do my thing.

"
