American Idol in the News

Remember Kristi Lee Cook, this year's Carrie Underwood wanna-be who smarmed her way into extra weeks by warbling "God Bless the USA" in all its red white and blue glory? Well, just in time for Independence Day, it has been announced that the blond Oregon native has signed with 19 Recordings/Arista Nashville. (The full announcement is here.)

Just for the record, Arista Nashville produces the real thing - that is, Ms. Underwood herself - as well as the dumbed-down version, Kellie Pickler. (Does this make Kristi the All-American version? And since when is Oregon "country"? These are the things that keep men up at night.)
