And Then There Were Nine

Adam.jpg

Adam Castelli went home.

I did not see that coming.

Sure, I thought the motorbike stunt was bordering on ridiculous, but as a competitor, I thought he was far more worthy than Mr. Day. But this is part popularity contest. And clearly, Adam is not popular. Or doesn't have a large enough extended family to vote for him over and over again.

Sorry to see you go, Adam. We barely knew ya.

Sebastian, after being blasted by the judges on Monday, looked surprised at his non-elimination. Hopefully he'll step it up and be brilliant next week. Because I'm one of those old-fashioned folks who believes that the talented people should remain.

This is how it went down:

"Canada voted and the Idol heading home tonight is Adam Castelli," said Ben. "Mookie and Sebastian, you're safe for one more week."

"It's been such a pleasure having you here," Ben said to Adam. "It's been so much fun getting to know you. It's a shame it had to end so quickly. We'll see you back at the finale."

Ben asked Adam if there was anything he wanted to say to his friends, family or fans.

"I just want to thank everyone for all the support. It's been a great ride and I didn't plan on doing a song tonight so no motorcycle tonight," said Adam.

He finished off the show with a performance of "Rebel Rebel."

Monday's show is all about Rock 'n' Roll Heaven. Yes, dead rockers. At least there's some flexibility in terms of song choice. Bowie was tough. Next week, there are no excuses. Because there are a lot of cool dead legends out there.
