Breakfasts of Champions: Eat Like the Top Five

With it being Olympics season, everyone's talking about the eating habits of winning athletes (specifically Michael Phelps' ridiculously amazing 12,000-calories-a-day diet). Now, maybe you haven't wondered what the Top 5 Canadian Idol contestants eat for breakfast. But just in case you have, CTV has the lowdown:

Mitch MacDonald: A piece of fruit and a glass of orange juice or apple juice
"I've never been much of a breakfast guy to be honest ... usually the mornings are pretty slow, I'm trying to get going and then I'm good and hungry for lunch," said Mitch.

Mookie Morris: A bagel and chocolate milk

"I don't even get time to eat breakfast really," said Mookie. "I think my secret is chocolate milk in the morning."

Earl Stevenson: A home-made smoothie with bananas, blackberries, strawberries, orange juice, ice cream and milk

"I just like it because it fills you up and it's a good treat," said Earl.

Theo Tams: Two bottles of Gatorade or Cheez Whiz on crackers or toast

"I don't really eat breakfast and ever since I've been on this show I'm in a constant state of nervousness and my stomach does not cooperate in the morning," said Theo with a laugh. "But if I do eat in the morning I'll have (one of those two things)."

Drew Wright: A bowl of cereal, an apple, a banana or maybe a yogurt

"Sometimes in the morning I don't really feel like eating but if I have breakfast (it will be one of those things), not all of them," said Drew.

Drew and I are breakfast soul mates. Tune in tonight to see if these breakfasts have fueled our boys for success.
