As recapped yesterday (not that you didn't already know), we said goodbye to Lisa, Paul, Jesse and Jessica this week. And thanks to the folks over at idol.ctv.ca, we can read their thoughts on their short-lived Idol experiences.
Lisa Bell, 27, Winnipeg, Man.
Performed "Dock of the Bay" (Otis Redding)
"The whole time I was here it was a good experience. I got a chance to do things I'd never done before and glad I could take part in it. Now I'm just going to go on with my career. I was a professional before I got in here and I'm going to keep doing what I was doing, keep doing shows, working on albums, keep writing. You can't really let stuff like this get you down. You've got to keep pushing on, you know?"
"I think it was great exposure. It's nation-wide so I'm sure there were a lot of viewers watching the whole process. It's one more thing. It's something different. I've done film and acting and I have a band and I write songs. This was something very different but it was a wild ride, I'm glad I got to hop on."
Paul Clifford, 26, Port Moody, B.C.
Performed "Apparitions" (Matthew Good Band)
"Yes, it's a long journey and there's a lot of people who kind of wanted to be where I am so I'm kind of blessed to be in this position to start with, you know, so yeah, it was an amazing experience. And like I've been saying, everyone from every contestant to the people behind the scenes, the whole show, Canadian Idol isn't just Canadian Idol the TV show, when you're actually a part of it you realize there's so many people working for you and wanting the best out of you and helping you every single day, there's some amazingly big hearts and special people throughout this process."
Jesse Cottam, 23, Calgary, Alta.
Performed "Iris" (Goo Goo Dolls)
"I actually feel pretty good. I'm really proud of myself for getting this far -- Top 20 in all of the country so that's really cool. I feel like that's a big accomplishment and to come out and work this hard, I had a great time. I met tons of great people, so I'm happy at the end of the day. It was a great ride."
"Me and my band were halfway through recording a record when I flew out here so I'm just going to go home, go out to Vancouver, going to record the rest of that and then try to tour across Canada and keep doing our thing."
Jessica Sheppard, 22, Toronto, Ont.
Performed "Umbrella" (Rihanna - Mandy Moore Version)
"The only reason why I'm crying, I want people to understand, it's the people. It's the people here they're so fascinating and inspirational. It's like we feed off each other and when all of a sudden everybody else is gone and it's just me, it's like, 'wow, where did that feed go?' The worse thing I could've done is look over at the Idols when they said I was going home and Mark (Day) was bawling his eyes out so that totally made it hard for me to keep my stuff together on stage."
"Well before I came here, I had a lot of opportunities to go into a studio and lay down a demo and kind of put some of my original music out because I do write so I'm hoping that this is going to give me the opportunity to push forward and actually get some of that stuff done, actually be able to have the confidence and go and say, 'I was on Canadian Idol Top 20,' I'm pretty sure I can go into a studio in front of nobody and lay down a demo. I'm looking forward to it. I really am."
