To the victor goes the spoils....and the commercial deals.

American Idol winner David Cook has signed an endorsement deal with Sketchers, the lifestyle sneakers folks. Cook is following in the footsteps (hee!) of 2005 Idol winner Carrie Underwood, and is the first male celebrity signed to be the face of Sketchers since 2002 gave us Robert Downey Jr. (who apparently did commercials between jail gigs).

And yeah, maybe the "rocker" is going a bit commercial....but hey, considering the lifespan of most Idol careers (think Rueben, Jordan or whatever happened to Taylor?), I think young Mr. Cook is wise to clean up while the cleaning's good.
