Earl Stevenson: Exit Interview

Earl goodbye.jpg

Okay. I think I'm over the shock. I'm still in mourning, but I'm functional enough to share with you Earl's exit interview with CTV.

"The whole reason I came on here was to get exposure and to show people something," said Stevenson, shortly after his elimination.

"People get all sad like this is the end or something or you just disappear off the planet or something but it's not like that. Like I said before, it's just another stepping stone. You just continue on, you have your direction you want to go and nothing can sway your dream of what you want everything to be so you just continue on the path and see what happens. Maybe winning would've been the most detrimental thing in the world. You don't even know really. Whatever happens you just accept it."

He also speaks about Mookie Morris (his Idol buddy) who was also considered super-eclectic. Were the styles of these two just too much too soon for a more conventional audience?

"I don't know, you know. There's such a large demographic, this show, it's from tots to old people, grandmas, great grandmas even, so you can expect that if you're really going to do what you want to do, you can expect that just like in life, anyone's who's strong in what they do, there's going to be people who don't agree with them ... for me, music, I just want to have fun. I want to connect with all sides of myself."

Read the rest here. Seriously, read it.
