Eva Avila: The Sophomore Album

160_EvaAvila.jpg

Now that the Theo hype has died down a little (and rightly so -- let's give him a moment to breathe), let us take a moment to ponder the career of Idol alum Eva Avila.

She's about to release her sophomore album, a more mature offering than her first. Because she's growing up. As a person and as an artist. And we should expect nothing less than the evolution of both the singer and the woman.

"Every artist needs to evolve and I'm aiming for yes, a more mature sound but ... I also wanted to make sure that every song reflected a new side of me and also reflects who I've grown into as a woman," says Eva.

The first single "Give Me the Music" is already in regular radio rotation and is #13 and climbing on the Canadian charts. The album of the same name will be released Oct. 28th.

"I actually genuinely enjoy (the single) when I hear it. I like it. I don't just (think), 'Yeah, we did a good job, it's well produced, I think my vocals sound good.' No, I like the song, it stays in my head and it makes me want to dance," says Eva.

The Gatineau, Que., native co-wrote one song on the album entitled "Run" and fans who buy the album digitally from iTunes will receive a bonus track that was also co-written by Eva called "My Neighbourhood."

"I've written so many songs in the past year and I've explored so many different musical styles through the writing. It's really gratifying to be able to have all these creative messes and puzzles ... and work on it with somebody else and then after a few hours you hear it and you have a song."
