Famous Last Words?

four gone.jpg
As promised yesterday, I've got snippets (and links) of the eliminated competitors' exit interviews. We've all seen how non-winners can go on to meet pretty remarkable success, but so far, that has only been seen with those who've made it fairly far in the competition. Take Jacob Hoggard and Hedley, for example. Or Daughtry (for American fans). To be eliminated this early in the game is certainly a bit of a disadvantage, as no real fan base has been established. That said, the short-lived exposure on national television still beats no exposure at all.

Soundbites from the interviews. Read them here.

Lindsay Barr, 26, Halifax, NS

"I'm really a tough chick and I just don't think that's a real blow. I mean I got to perform in front of millions and hang out with some really cool people and do what I love to do but Canadian Idol just enhanced what I did prior to, so it's really interesting for me because you never really know where this kind of thing is going to go ... unfortunately I didn't get enough votes and I'm not one to make an excuse or be sorry. I'm not angry, it is what it is and it happened the way it happened and it's just too bad because I had a lot more coming."

Shaun Francisco, 25, Vancouver, BC

"I feel like I've been on the ride of my life. I don't know, I'm pretty speechless, but I'm also not shocked. I think that I really respect Canada's opinion and I can see that it was a bad choice in terms of doing the song, it was a bad choice from a Canadian Idol perspective but I have no regrets. I loved doing that song, it's a song that I've connected well with personally as a music fan and it's something I've always wanted to arrange and show everybody in this nation I had a great arrangement ability, I had a good composing ability and a way to make a song my own."

Tetiana Ostapowych, 25, Toronto, ON

"I feel pretty good. It's funny; I don't feel like this is a reflection of me or my talent as a singer or as a performer, as an artist. The whole voting system, I never really tried to push it on anybody, I mean I never really went, I didn't have my mom going to malls and I didn't have anybody, I mean my parents have always been supportive of me but I never wanted anybody to go out of their way, not saying that those people are, who are on the show, because everybody's so unbelievably talented and it was hard enough to pick four people to go home as it is."

Lindsay Robins, 21, Montreal, PQ

"I was kind of oddball for this competition from the beginning. I was saying this from the start; I was very hesitant going in. I've been very vocal about that because I had many misconceptions about the show and I still think they were misconceptions because I don't regret doing this at all, I had such a fantastic time. Was it necessarily the right show for a person like me, who knows? You could never know. I mean, normally, in past Idols, they were looking for very mainstream type of artists and that was not me by any means and I always dubbed myself more of a performer and songwriter so that was my first time really going up on stage and my gig being a cover gig, so that was very different to me.

"I had a great time; I don't regret it at all. I want to thank Canada for listening to me and I really want to thank the judges for giving me a chance and putting a very unlikely Idol competitor into the competition. It was fantastic."

Enjoy your weekend, everyone. And be sure to tune in on Monday for more Idol action!
