Final Prediction

Okay, as I write this, Donna Summer is debuting her new single on AI. I know, I know, I'm really really late. But let me start with one word: Cook.

I predict David Cook will win this year's American Idol.

And I predict he'll do that in spite of last night.

If I was the one person in the country and I just channel surfed my way to AI for the first time last night, I would give this contest to David Archuletta hands down. Simon was right - he brought the knockout performances; he came to win. David Cook, on the other hand, came to perform a concert to his biggest audience to date, and he did a fine job of that - even if that meant he wasn't playing the same game most idol winners have.

It's sort of like Bo Bice and Carrie Underwood - one performed a concert, the other did what was needed to win. Last time, we weren't ready for a rocker. This time, we are, It's that simple.

Which may bode well for the minority Presidential candidates....we can only hope.

(Of course, I've been wrong before. I was a Bo fan.)

Okay, now I'm pushing "post" and crossing my fingers. Go, David! (Hee.)
