Four Goodbyes

Eps._8___eliminated.jpg

As was predicted by yours truly, it's the year of the boy. Last night's elimination episode had us saying goodbye to three of our nine female singers: Lindsay Barr, Tetiana Ostapowych and Lindsay Robins. And Shaun Francisco.

I was pleasantly surprised by the format of last night's show. The intimate group performances felt uncontrived, with the singers providing their own instrumentation. I propose that we just do away with the backing band and let them make their own music from now on. Very refreshing.

And in a rare concession, I will thank Ben for just telling us who's eliminated. Sometimes Ryan Seacrest, with his little "stand to the left of the stage, spin around, guess if you're safe or not" routine, makes me want to throw things. At him. Instead, last night was just a no-games straight-up elimination. Keep it up, Canadian Idol. Your audience appreciates being treated with respect.

I'll have more on their exit interviews later. So stay tuned....
