Goodbye to Drew

drew.jpg

You know that Michelle Branch song, "Goodbye to You"? Swap out the "you" for "Drew" and you've got a catchy little ditty that's dailyIdolTV friendly.

I apologize if that's too random for you. It's been a long week.

So we're down to two. And if Theo's going to win, then it's only natural that everyone else be eliminated at some point. So while I didn't want to say goodbye to Drew, I understand that it had to happen for the sake of the greater good.

Drew will be fine. Trust me.

Excerpts from his exit interview below:

"I definitely feel like I'm in a good position. I don't feel cheated or anything that I didn't get second or first. I feel privileged to be this far for sure," said Wright, shortly after his elimination.

"I'm looking forward to getting pen to paper and kind of reflecting on the whole experience and writing a good album."

The 28-year-old musician and house painter from Collingwood, Ont., was eliminated on the Top 3 results show after receiving the fewest number of votes for his performances of Bryan Adams' "Cuts Like a Knife" and "I'm Ready."

Wright said he wasn't surprised it was his name that was called, considering he'd been in the Bottom 2 a couple of times and despite tremendous support from his hometown, Ontario doesn't vote like some other parts of the country do.

"I thought I was going to be gone when it was me and Mookie so to make it to third place is awesome and I'm happy to be this far," said Wright.

Unlike other contestants, Drew doesn't get to go home. With the finale quickly approaching, the Top 10 are reuniting. So Drew fans, relax, He pretty much won.

But even though he's been eliminated, Wright doesn't get to go home quite yet. With the finale only a week away, Wright will be busy preparing for that with the remaining members of the Top 10.

"I'm kind of glad in a way. It gives me time to chill a bit this week, even with the group performances, kind of hang out with the Top 10. I'm really looking forward to this week. Less stress than the other two guys that are left but it's going to be awesome."

Wright has no regrets about the entire experience and just wants to now concentrate on writing some material, while building on the recognition he gained on the show.

"Now within Canada you're almost a household name in certain respects so it's nice to have that under the belt and get that promotion and try and run with it while you can and strike while the iron is hot so to speak."

Read the rest here. And be sure to turn in Monday as Theo and Mitch go head to head for the title.
