Judge, Interrupted

Apparently breakdowns are the new black.

Please join me in a moment of silence for Paula Abdul. The awkwardly-bubbly, possibly inebriated Idol judge is clearly going through either a serious error in her medication dosage or is just plain off her rocker. Whoever told her the Britney Spears route to publicity (a la mental instability) was the way to go needs to be booted from the payroll ASAP. Paula has gone from laughably neurotic to alarmingly off her game (which wasn’t the best to begin with!) and all the bad press is doing absolutely nothing for her image, and even less for that of American Idol.

Idol execs say that Paula will remain a judge on the show’s panel, and I never really thought her job was in jeopardy to begin with, but she better tone herself done just a smidge before even more people start tuning OUT each week. Between the ever-decreasing ratings, overhyped finalists, and rumors of the show being rigged, Idol needs to pull a rabbit out of its hat quick if it hopes for a shot at redemption with an eighth season. And someone better start putting water in Paula’s red Coke cup each week and checking her BAC before each taping….just for safety’s sake!!
