Top 12: We Can Work It Out

Or can we? Some of the Idols did, making the Beatles classics their own (the only way to go - after all, how can you compete with the original?). And others, well, turned out more like The Fools on The Hill.

So, ladies and gentlemen, without further ado I give you my best of the night - Chikezie. Yep, you heard me there - and I'm as surprised as you are. I haven't really liked the Eze guy since he showed up in his orange shirt. But from opening note to the end, he owned "She's A Woman." He got props all around, and I certainly would like to see what he can do. Keep him around, eh?

Others who made Lennon and McCartney proud - Brooke White is getting better every week, and I now rank her as best of the girls. "Let It Be" was beautiful and harmonious, just as it should be. Carly also had a great week - the first I really sat up and took notice of her gorgeous voice as showcased in her rendition of "Come Together." When she started, I thought, "Weird song choice," but by the end I could see exactly why she choose it - it was just so perfect for her voice. David Cook continued to be a winner with his rocking "Eleanor Rigby." Michael's "Across the Universe" should buy him another week - even though he tried to match Lennon note for note and, let's face it Michael, you're no John Lennon (who is?). And Amanda's "You Can't Do That" - though very predictable - still fit her voice and allowed her to own the (new improved) AI stage.

The forgettable - unfortunately, a lot of my favorites end up on this list. Ramiele chose one of my favorite songs, "In My Life," and made it boring, boring, boring. Jason sang "If I Fell" without a guitar, but that's all I can say about that. And Syesha is totally in danger of becoming victim to that "singing first curse," as her "Got To Get You Into My Life" was totally forgotten by the time we hit our second set of commercials.

And oh, how the mighty have fallen. My "guy to beat" David A. beat himself this week, really doing a job on "We Can Work It Out." He didn't - instead, he mangled it and even forgot the words. I mean, come on, doesn't everyone who has any respect for music know all the words to every Beatle song? I thought that was a requirement. He'll be safe, but I'm thinking this one may have peaked too soon.

David H. had a bad day too, sucking all the joy out of "I Saw Her Standing There." If she was, she walked away after this performance. And Kristy Lee Cook proved they kicked off the wrong blond last week with her country fried "Eight Days A Week." Hey,Kristy? Beatles and yodeling is just wrong.

So here's my prediction - bottom three will be David H., Kristy Lee and Syesha. And Kristy Lee should be outta here, unless Syesha falls victim to the curse of going first or David H. is cut off because of his past antics. Last week I was 3 for 4...let's see if I can keep it up!
